Open Studio @ St Ignatius
Aim
The aim of this ministry is to journey with individuals on their path to holiness by providing:
- a sacred space of gentle silence and stillness to hear the Holy Spirit speak through scripture, art making and the faith sharing of the group.
- a safe and intimate holding space of a faith community that deliberately aspires to be a perfect channel of God’s Presence through authentic listening (listening to one another without judgment, advice, comments, questions etc.).
- an art space where art making is prayer itself, an active partnership with the Holy Spirit to lead us where He wills on our art process/spiritual journey so that we can receive all that He wishes to give us.
The artwork, fruit of the art-making prayer experience, is especially personal and meaningful, a concrete reminder of our encounter with the Lord and continues to inspire us to further reflection.
Program
Four themed series are run during the year for Lent, Easter, Ordinary Time and Advent, each lasting 4 to 6 sessions. Sessions are held on Fridays, 9 am to 12 noon at classroom #01-09 (Annexe).
Art materials are provided and no art experience is required as the focus is not on the image as a work of art but rather on the experience of the art process as prayer.
Registration
The Open Studio warmly welcomes everyone aged 21 years and above.
Registration is needed for each session.
Sessions though linked by a theme are also independent, so participants can attend all or any session that suits them. Participants may also register on the date of the session itself.
Please note that the Lenten sessions will be suspended until further notice in view of the current COVID-19.
