When our then new Parish Priest Father Philip Heng met with several members of PaCES in early February 2010, we all agreed that a group which prayed at wakes for the souls of our departed parishioners would be:
- a clear implementation of our Parish goals; and
- support for the bereaved at their time of need.
In July 2010, an appeal to parishioners was successful and today there are about 100 members, including many who joined after our prayers for their beloved. We pray at the wakes of parishioners held at St Claude de la Colombiere prayer room and elsewhere. We also attend, serve and sing at funerals, and provide support at cremations and burials.
A 6pm Memorial Mass for all departed parishioners is celebrated on the 4th Friday of every month, followed by prayers in the Columbarium. Our members turn up for this in solidarity with our grieving families. In carrying out the above, we contribute towards the dimensions of our Parish goals, and we hope to achieve greater synergy with PaCES Ministry and also with the various Neighbourhood Christian Communities (NCC). Columbarium Prayers are suspended during Covid-19 period.
