Generation CHRIST! Ministry had its humble beginnings in 2008 at the St Francis Xavier Chapel (Kingsmead Centre), where six young adults made a commitment to pray together before the Blessed Sacrament once a month. Soon, many young working adults from St Ignatius as well as other parishes would travel to this chapel on the last Friday of the month to pray the rosary together, meditate on scripture and spend a quiet hour with Christ in Eucharistic Adoration, ending with benediction. Over the years, many young people have encountered the Real Presence of the Eucharistic Jesus in a very powerful way and experienced how God speaks loudest and clearest through silence.
Today, we have come a long way to become a parish Eucharistic Adoration Ministry, tasked with a mission to promote and bring many people into a relationship with Jesus Christ through parish-wide Eucharistic Adoration programmes. We have now moved to the main church to lead some 500- 600 people in the monthly First Friday Eucharistic Adoration sessions that takes place after the Sacred Heart Mass. It remains our deep desire and prayer that one day our parish community will spark to life, with great devotion and love for the Eucharistic Jesus. As part of our social mission project, we help out each year at the Mass for the Sick and Elderly by offering a hand to the sick and those who are wheel-chair bound or experiencing walking difficulties, helping them on their arrival and departure from mass.
