The Society of St Vincent de Paul (SSVP) reaches out to those in need on a person-to-person basis, regardless of their race or religion. SSVP is an international Catholic lay organisation (founded in Paris in 1833), whose members are dedicated to following Christ through service to those in need and so bear witness to His compassionate love.
SSVP at St Ignatius was set up in 1962 to serve the poor living in kampongs around the church. In 1990, we took over the care of poor and needy residents staying at the 2 blocks of 1-room rental flats at Redhill Close. Over the years, our outreach has expanded to jobless and/or injured migrant workers, low income families who cannot afford milk and diapers for their babies, underprivileged girls staying at Ahuva Good Shepherd Girls’ Home and elderly residents at St Joseph’s Home.
